Set on the banks of the Ortega River, this pool pours over a 22-foot infinity edge that holds the water dead-level and glassy, so the river view runs straight across the surface. Stratus Blue glass subway tile wraps every vertical face — the 2x4 on the walls and edge, the 1x2 mosaic across the horizontal surfaces — glinting against a deep charcoal pebble interior that mirrors the sky. A raised spa spills back into the pool between twin planters, Shellstone tan bullnose coping frames the water, and a Tremron Sierra Mega Old Town deck steps down to a lower riverside terrace with a 10x10 cedar pergola lounge. Built on the water, for the water — this one is our own.

Designer’s note

Building at the river's edge meant the soil couldn't be trusted to carry a pool — so this one stands on eleven helical piles driven to load-bearing strata, with the shell engineered as a structure in its own right. The 22-foot infinity edge had to be formed to a tolerance of a fraction of an inch so the sheet breaks evenly along its full length, and a dedicated 5hp pump drives the edge independently of circulation. The equipment pad runs the full playbook: propane for fast spa heat, a heat/chill pump for year-round water temperature, and TruDose with TruSense keeping chemistry dialed automatically. When it's your own backyard, you build the hard way on purpose.
